News & Udates 07.04.11 - Japanese PSN Finally Making Full Return

The Japanese government was strict about Sony fully reinstating the PlayStation Network. They wanted to be sure that the network had become much more secure since the hacking that took place back in April, but the Japanese PlayStation Network is finally being restored. The official word from Sony can be found here:

All the network services are scheduled to be restored on July 6th. As someone who has a Japanese PSN account, and uses the Japanese PSN store, I'm rather happy to see the service finally come back to life. Previously, if users tried to access the JPN PSN store, they were greeted by a message stating "This service is not available in your country/region."

Additionally, a Welcome Back package will be available for Japanese PSN users. As with other regions, users will be eligible for 30 free days of PlayStation Plus and be able to pick two free games from a list of five for both PS3 and PSP. The list of games to choose is as follows:

PS3
-The Last Guy
-LocoRoco!! BuuBuu Cocoreccho
-Echochrome
-Wipeout HD
-Hustle Kings

PSP
-Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida or2
-Minna no Sukkiri
-Patapon 2
-LittleBigPlanet Portable
-LocoRoco Midnight Carnival
